Kenyon College

Art History and Museum Gallery

The building beckons to those who pass by it.

An iconic glass box wrapped in terracotta baguettes is the main entrance to the building. This façade showcases the venue for art exhibits and installations and allows glimpses into the building for passersby, enticing them to enter and explore art and art history. The lobby serves as a reception area for gallery openings and special events and as a student gathering spot.

A new home for the art history department.

At Kenyon College, art history forms the bridge between studio practice and the liberal arts curriculum. As historians, art history students learn technical skills for evaluating artistic production, collection, and display of the past and present. The new Gallery and Museum carefully considers the mission of the art history curriculum and matches the program to it with galleries, a 136-seat auditorium, classroom, seminar room, and a special interactive curatorial classroom for the in-depth study of works from the art history teaching collection.
