North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie

A new front door to the performing arts.

The new performing arts building has a sweeping façade that lights up at night presenting a grand front door to the arts in downtown Skokie. Three foot diameter columns rise two stories to support a translucent canopy. Inside, the building is a multi-purpose, modern, efficient theatre facility that supports world famous performers, tradeshows and local productions with an 867-seat theatre, a 350-seat amphitheater-style multi-use space, a rehearsal room, a grand lobby and conference rooms.

An elegant and intimate theatre.

The main Center Theatre supports a wide variety of performances, recitals, concerts, speakers and meetings. It has a single balcony that sweeps around toward the proscenium. An intimate space, the farthest seat is only 56 feet from the stage. Maple hardwood tier fronts and ceiling panels along with custom designed light fixtures create a warm and inviting theater space.

From theatre to ballroom.

The smaller Northlight Theatre seats 318 people in an amphitheater-style setting and converts into a 7,400 SF multi-function room for special events, tradeshows and conferences. During performances, its thrust stage is accessed by vomitories with steeply raked seats designed to provide excellent sightlines for the audience. When not hosting performances, its removable floor panels cover the theatre seats, transforming the theatre into a ballroom.
