Forest Dining Center
Strengthening the identity of the dining hall.
The renovation and new construction of Forest Dining Center creates a main path through the center of the building connecting a series of dining pavilions with diverse restaurant grade serveries, or micro-restaurants. A stair tower element denotes the main entry along Jones Avenue, a major pedestrian spine. The existing loading dock, which faced out toward Jones Ave, is replaced with a new two-story glass and limestone façade that recalls the architectural elements of the central campus.
Giving students more options.
A diverse range dining pavilions and hard and soft seating provide a range of options for students to dine and gather with their peers. Transparent materials provide internal and external connections.
A mixed-use destination.
The second level features a meeting room, classrooms, computer lab, offices and academic support spaces, making the Forest Dining Center a mixed-use campus destination for students.
Extending dining to the outdoors.
New outdoor dining terraces activating major campus pathways and weave the dining center into the fabric of the campus neighborhood.
